Duplicate content

Duplicate content should be avoided as much as possible between the different pages of the same site. Even if internal duplicate content is less serious than external duplicate content, it can still negatively impact the SEO of your site.

In order to find duplicate content on your site, you have to launch Screaming Frog and go to the right side of the screen. Then have to go to "Content" and then "Near duplicate".

In case of high duplicate content between your pages (more than 50%), beware, this can mean two problems:

• Either too many pages poor in content: the less unique content there is, the more the proportion of duplicated content increases because of repeated text throughout the site (header, menu, sidebar, footer ...)

• Either real duplicate content that may lead to a cannibalization of pages in the search results

For exemple, here we have 2 pages with 86% of duplicated content.

If we take a closer look, we find real duplicate content. For this kind of duplicate it is necessary to make a task to order a new content.

For example, these two pages have 52% duplicate content.

If we take a closer look, we find that is not really a duplicate content but both pages are poor in content. The ladbrokes one is empty, so the duplicated content is caused by the repeated text throughout the site (header, menu, sidebar, footer ...). For this kind of duplicate you just have to add content.
