You will see four different scenarios in the H1 tab in Screaming Frog (attached screen)

  1. H1 is duplicated
  1. H1 is missing
  1. H1 is too long
  1. H1 is in the same article twice

1. H1 is duplicated

As you can see, the same H1 is used on different articles

How to solve it ? 👉 When you only have a few pages (>20) with duplicated H1s, it can be a simple human mistake. In this case, you can either edit them yourself or export the data and to create Asana task and assign it to your content manager to write different H1 👉 When you have a lot of pages with duplicated H1s, it can be an issue related to the theme of the website. In this case, it's much quicker and easier to discuss it with tech team, as they can solve it pretty quickly

2. H1 is missing

How to solve it ? 👉 Export the data to create a task and assign it to your content manager. Keep in mind that prio pages (= betting-related pages) are the most important so try to prioritize when assigning the task to your content manager. ex : if you have 80 missing H1s on news articles from 2018, it's less critical than having 5 missing H1s on promo codes articles

3. H1 is "too long"

H1s that are longer than 70 characters (characters =/= words !) will usually not be displayed properly in the SERP. We need to shorten them to 70 characters or less.

How to solve it ? 👉 Correct them yourself or export the data and create an Asana for your content manager

4. H1 is in the same article twice

Having the exact same H1 twice in the same article is pretty useless and should be avoided. This case is pretty unusual.

How to solve it ?

👉 If there are not many occurences of this issue, you can edit the double H1 yourself. If there is a lot of them, it can related to the theme options. If that's the case, address it directly with tech team.
