metrics: data and tools to check them

  1. Which data to check

  • NSN TOOL :
    • maximum 6 links per website (and never 2 same websites or operators) β‡’ check links

  • AHREFS :
    • UR & DR (β‡’ overview) : shows the strength of a page's link profile and a website's backlink profile

    • referring domain (β‡’ overview) : depends on the market.
      • Small markets, we would like >50 (balkans, cis…)
      • Main markets, number would be > 100 ideally.

    • traffic (β‡’ overview & overview 2.0) : organic traffic, at least 10K, with constant evolution. Collapsing traffic is a red flag.

    • Top pages & top keywords (β‡’ overview or organic search) : Top pages + top keywords targeting keywords relevant to the niche.

    • competitor (outgoing links β‡’ linked domains) : Lot of links sold. Too many outgoing links (relative to traffic) can be a red flag. Check also with filters the type of links (filter by "bet" or β€œcasino” for example)

  • MAJESTIC :
    • Trust flow (TF - homepage) : metric to measure the perceived trustworthiness of a website based on its backlinks. the higher the better.

    • Citation flow (CF - homepage) : metric which helps to measure the link power the website or link carries.

    β‡’ according to some seo experts, the ratio between TF and CF should ideally be 1. Between 0.5 and 2 also seems to be a correct metric according to others. Too much difference between 2 metrics (>2) would be a red flag for Google.

    • Link anchor (homepage or menu) : allows to determine if a website is potentially spammy. We can also know which are the "top backlinks" to target websites.

  • SIMILARWEB :
    • Organic traffic (plugin) : like ahrefs

    • Traffic sources (plugin) : at least 10K from organic traffic

    • Competitors & Similar Sites : know competitors and their estimated organic traffic

  • SEOBSERVER :
    • Top backlinks & (homepage) : like Majestic, with same data about top anchors.

    • TTF Topical Trust Flow (TTF homepage) : illustrate the strength and ranking potential of a webpage based on the relevancy of a website.
